Airbags: for your safety
Integrated into the steering wheel, dashboard and, in some cases, vehicle doors, the airbags are designed to protect the driver and passengers in the event of a collision.
The airbags are triggered when deceleration is too great and the computer sends this measurement to the electronic box and the gas generator. It is this signal that enables this complex mechanism to launch its protection system and cause the bags to inflate in a flash.
Depending on the force of the collision and several factors related to the vehicle’s electronic components, the minimum impact speed for airbag activation is generally around 15 to 30 km/h for a frontal collision. Also, be aware that airbags that deploy suddenly may in some cases cause injury, especially if you sit too close to the dashboard or if you have not fastened your seat belt. In addition, they are not safe for children.
